EasyXLS will allow setting a custom character encoding like Unicode, ASCII, UFT-8 and UTF-32 when reading or writing CSV, TXT or HTML files.

Pivot tables and pivot charts
One of the most wanted features is now available. EasyXLS will allow you to create and handle pivot tables and pivot charts. Create a columnar report, set the source range for the pivot report, set the row and column headings, choose an auto format and a pivot table or pivot chart is available in a preferred look and feel.

Macros
EasyXLS will allow you to load an xls, xlsx or xlsb file that contains macros, add more data to the file and resave the file in any of the MS Excel file format. The macro will be preserved.

Comments
The rich text format for comments will be available in the next version. The RTF text is handled in a similar way as the cell RTF text, by means of HTML tags.

Formulas with circular references
The formulas that contain circular references are identified and can be calculated more accurately using an iterative calculation algorithm having a custom precision.

Images improvement
After loading an Excel file, the image bytes of an image inside the document can be extracted and used for particular purposes.

What next? Themes and new image file formats for xlsx and xlsb files

The previous version introduced the themes for MS Excel 2007-2010 files. The future version will come with an API that will dynamically allow setting the colors and fonts for cells, conditional formatting and chart elements, accordantly to a specific theme. Furthermore, the cell formatting will be improved with diagonal borders and gradient fill settings and the chart will have full formatting support for fill, border, shadow, 3D and font settings. All those new features, that complete the formatting of an Excel file, come as natural upgrade to MS Excel 2007-2010 new formatting features. All the new features maintain the compatibility for xls file in a similar way that MS Excel does.

Related to images, EasyXLS supported only JPEG format until now. Starting with the next version, the GIF, PNG, WMF, EMF, BMP, TIFF images will be also supported for xlsx and xlsb files.

Over 130 new functions in formulas will be available for Excel files

The calculation engine was improved with more than 130 new functions, including financial, date & time, math & trig, statistical, lookup & reference, text, logical, information and engineering functions. The functions of Analysis ToolPak Add-In will be fully supported.

Themes

The appearance and the formatting of a document can be changed by using a theme. With the help of EasyXLS the user will be able to create, edit and set a theme to an xlsx or xlsb document. The formatting includes a color scheme, a font scheme and an effect scheme, that offers a modern look for the Excel document.

What Next? Security & Protection for Excel files

We are pleased to announce that our team is working on improving the security for xls, xlsx and xlsb files.

EasyXLS will support encryption soon, reading & writing password protected spreadsheets. The protection on the sheets will be increased by applying a password on worksheets/chartsheets. Also a password for the workbook can be provided in order to open or modify an xls, xlsx or xlsb file.

Our Excel Library has 11 years of continuous experience on saving and loading Microsoft Excel file formats.

EasyXLS grows on client needs. We are very client focused, partnering with our clients to ensure their success instead of just delivering a functioning component. None of our clients can afford to get several months into their project and discover a flaw or missing detail in any of their components has left them without a solution. Our priority support provides exactly that type of protection. We have dedicated client support development staff on our priority support team that addresses these types of issue.

When our priority support clients encounter a problem we work with them to either find a solid workaround or our team provides a hot patch. Preparing a hot patch for EasyXLS to ensure it can parse a sample Excel file is a high priority fix that typically takes no more than a couple of days.

Our company released new features based on each client needs and requirements mainly. We evaluate each request and set up a schedule for each new feature based on all those requests. This past year we delivered more than thirty such hot patches. Most of the hot patches took a week to prepare including basic testing.

As we deliver each new formal release, we include the latest hot patches in that release.
